Olympic Discovery Trail

About the Trail:

The Olympic Discovery Trail is a multi-jurisdictional non-motorized trail running from Port Townsend, through the Cities of Sequim, Port Angeles, and Forks, and terminating in the coastal town of La Push. The ODT is an ADA accessible trail, meeting AASHTO standards for active transportation and mixed use facilities. Of the 122 miles of trail, 64.4 miles are currently constructed as a separated paved trail or gravel. The remainder runs along low-volume local roads (27.7 miles) or state highway (29.9 miles). There are currently planning projects being undertaken to construct the remainder of the trail as separated paved trail, removing conflicts between trail users and motorized traffic.

The Olympic Adventure Trail is a 21 mile natural surface trail intended for those who want to experience a more thrilling riding and hiking experience.

Adopt a Trail Program

Want to make a long-term impact on the Olympic Discovery Trail? Consider adopting a trail section! This program, administered by the Peninsula Trails Coalition, allows individuals, families, or groups to take responsibility for a specific portion of the trail, ensuring it remains clean, safe, and accessible year-round.

Adopters take on tasks such as:

  • Regular litter removal.
  • Monitoring for damage or maintenance needs.
  • Reporting any hazards or areas of concern.

How to Get Started:
Visit the Adopt a Trail Segment page to learn more and sign up for a section of the trail that’s meaningful to you. Additional volunteer opportunities can be found through the Peninsula Trails Coalition website.
