Stormwater Management Ordinance

Clallam County’s Stormwater Management Ordinance went into effect on January 1, 2022. Full text can be found in Chapter 27.14 CCC. The code addresses stormwater management in reference to new development and redevelopment through the use of construction and post-construction best management practices. As part of implementing comprehensive stormwater management in Clallam County, the code adopts a stormwater manual with minimum requirements for stormwater management. It also addresses illicit nonstormwater discharges and illegal connections to public stormwater drainage systems in an effort to control and reduce the presence of stormwater pollutants.

Drainage Plans

Most development will require a Drainage Plan through the Public Works Department. Drainage plans allowed are based on a variety of factors including soil type, lot size, and amount of impervious surface. Unless specified in the Clallam County Small Project Drainage Manual, all applicants for a drainage permit shall provide the following items:

  • Topographical map of the site
  • General stormwater site plan
  • Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
  • Topographical map of the vicinity
