Lorraine started her career in law enforcement in 1992 with the Anchorage Police Department. During her tenure with APD, she served as Patrol Officer, Detective, Academy Instructor, Crime Scene Team Member and Leader, Firearms Instructor, Officer Survival Instructor, Patrol Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Internal Affairs Sergeant and Lieutenant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Commander of the Anchorage Police Academy. While working at APD, Lorraine graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education (B.S.O.E.) with a major in Human Services, specializing in Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist University. In 2008, she and her husband Howard retired from the Anchorage Police Department and moved to Sequim, WA.

In 2009, Sheriff Benedict hired Lorraine as the Community Policing Coordinator. In 2012 she took the position of Administrative Coordinator and in 2019 her job was reclassified to Administrative Manager to reflect the additional responsibilities of her position. Lorraine has been the Accreditation Manager since 2012 and the CCSO was re-accredited in 2013, 2017 and 2021. In 2017, WASPC offered accreditation to jails in WA State and the Clallam County Jail was the first county jail to achieve WASPC Accreditation. Both the agency and the jail again achieved re-accreditation in 2021. Lorraine received certification as a WASPC Accreditation Mentor and has mentored and assessed numerous law enforcement agencies in WA State.

Lorraine has extensive experience with Emergency Management and was a Type 3 Incident Management Team member and Planning Section Chief with the Municipality of Anchorage Emergency Management Division. Lorraine was appointed Undersheriff by Sheriff Brian King in January 2024.
